Sometimes, I have the need to travel to the past.  Perhaps I need to know more about the human being, and nothing better to do it than read about the habits of other times.

1870, New York, a very special society relying on  appareances, fortunes, and althouth you could think, that these actitudes have dissapaired nowadays, I think that they are very current. So, you can learn a lot if you can get into the mind of those people somehow.

A veces, tengo la necesidad de viajar al pasado. Quizás necesito saber más sobre el ser humano, y nada mejor para hacerlo que leer sobre las costumbres de otras épocas.

1870, Nueva York, una sociedad muy especial basada en las apariencias, las fortunas, y aunque podáis pensar que estas actitudes han desaparecido hoy en día, creo que están muy vigentes. Así que se puede aprender mucho si consigues entrar en la mente de aquellas personas, de alguna manera.

Mrs. Wharton wrote the novel in 1920 as a critic to that society that used to override women. She was the first woman awarded with the Pulitzer Prize in 1921, but this only was one of her achievements, because her life was amazing for a woman of those times, divorced in 1913, she lived in France and was reporter in the First World War, She also worked in the Red Cross with refugees. Unbelievable, isn't it?

La Sra. Wharton escribió esta novela en 1920 como una crítica a aquella sociedad que solía anular a las mujeres. Fue la primera mujer galardonada con el Pulitzer en 1921, pero este solo fue uno de sus logros, ya que su vida fue sorprendente para una mujer de aquellos tiempos, divorciada en 1913, vivió en Francia y fue reportera en la Primera Guerra Mundial, también trabajo en la Cruz Roja con los refugiados.
